Nitro Rod Box

Hey Guys I have a 1995 Nitro 170 DC. Its a great boat but i have one problem... the rod lockers are to short!! I can't fit my rods in there. I saw online a while back where some folks were cutting out the passenger console area and placing pipe or something where they could just stick the rods in through or under the console. I can't seem to find that website now. Have any of you done any modifications like this to accomodate your rods, or where do you keep them so they are not broken. Thanks in advance for any replies or advice

My 04' 185 just doesn't have enough storage and the lockers are not long enough like yours so I use my lockers for my nets ,rainsuit bag, rod holders and such and keep my rods on my deck. Just have to be a little more careful.
