Does anyone know the rhime or reason of the older Nitro models. Example 896, 901, 482. Does these numbers mean something.

I don't know about the models you listed, but the models earlier than the ones you mentioned usually referred to the boat's length...160TF was 16', 170TF was 17', etc. Models with DC referred to the boat being a dual console.

The first number refers to the "class" of boat. 6=600 series, 7=700 series, 8=800 series etc. The higher the first number the "better" class boat. 6 and 7 series were basic entry level bass boats. 8 series were more of a tournament boat and the 9 series were the top end tournament boats. The 482 was a pleasure/ski type boat 18'2" long.

The second and third numbers were associated with the length. An 896 was an 800 series boat and the 96 meant it was 19'6", 901 was a 900 series 20'1" long. At least that's the way I remember it being explained to me when I bought my boat.

Close but really no hard fast rule.

The 911 would throw that out the window....it was 20'2"

and I believe the 901 is 19'6", it might be 9".....i dont remember.

901 was 19' 2". I had one. the 482 was a small bass boat also, no ski involved. I really don't think they mean anything in particular.

The 482(17'9"L86"beam) is the smaller version of the 591(18'7"L94"beam).I have no idea what these #'s mean.Maybe they were just transitional models for the intro of the Z series.
