Newbie question re water gauge...

My Pro17 has a "water gauge" that has a needle dial that ranges from 0 to 15. There is an icon below the needle that looks like a circle with a bar through it. Does this thing register water pressure? Someone indicated that it might reflect the trim of the motor. Obviously, I did not get a manual with the boat so I don't know what it is for.
