my new trollin motor arrived this morning by ups on schedule. that ups tracking is great. getting it out of the box was a chore. glad they are boxed up well because this box was starting to fall apart. motor is in good shape. i'm stoked as i have been wanting this for quite some time and got a good deal. THANK YOU CREST MARINE in Illinois. will be installing this week.

thanks to this board's members for all the posts concerning trollin motors, mounts, features, installation, etc... I'll do my best to install it well so you can be proud. I don't know of any board out there with the experience, knowledge, and desire of its members to help another out, especially with all the questions that i ask. Hey Rich, can i have a lifetime membership to this board? sign me up.

thanks again,

jd

soonerfan, if i ever get the thing on, i will be in 'stealth' mode just like you. also, sending in the coupon thing for the free motorola talkabout radios. i'll keep them in the boat and on the lake, we can stay in touch. i might need some help when it is time to put the screws in. i'm thinkin an air powered wratchet wrench will do the trick after i enlarge the front panel holes a bit. i'm surprised the motor didn't come with any rubber isolators, just a bag of 3 1/2" screws, washers, and nylon nuts. i probably will need some help as it looks like a 2 man job. you will get to watch me cringe when i drill 2 holes in the glass. i'll give you a call tomorrow.

What kind of TM did you get? Our last trolling motor came with the rubber isolators.

Travis,

i got a minn kota maxxum 65 24V w/var speed. got a GREAT deal on it from a company goin out of business.

regarding the isolators, i contacted minn kota and they are not shipping with the isolators anymore. I inquired about using motorguide isolators and they said to mount the unit flush with the deck of the boat, that using isolators was causing damage to the base mount. i was surprised to not have isolators either. the base mount interior has a plastic filler piece where the screws pass thru and i'm thinkin the isolators may allow too much twisting and damages the plastic (just my thought on what would cause damage to the base). went ahead and followed their suggestion and mounted flush to the deck. my boat is the lx700 and i'm hoping the 65 is the right size for the boat.

if you have any questions, feel free to email me. look to maybe take the trollin motor on its maiden voyage this weekend if the weather allows.
