I was looking in my local craigslist and came across a boat that caught my eye. I want to trade in my boat for this boat. What do you guys think is a fair trade. I have a 1996 884 Savage 55lb thurst trolling motor. 3 batteries with 3 bank onboard charger. 150 merc with stainless prop. Depth finder and all the other things typical of a Nitro IE rod locker, live well. It has 2 year old Seats and Carpet. I was told the stock stuff was in decent shape but he wanted everything to match. The boat is Black/ Red/ Silver the carpet is black and the seats are black and red. The boat i want is a 2005 882 NX depth finder 150 merc. Stainless prop and all the typical stuff Lockers, live well, bla-bla-bla

What do you guys think I should pay difference?????

I don't know about the boat but ditch craig's list

LOL I know but its local so I can go look at it and have it inspected before i buy it. I just wanted a guess. I was thinking around $4-5K difference would be right but i could be off.

I'm guessing that since there is 9 years difference and depending on the hours on the motor at least 4 grand. But I would positively take a test drive and check everything out.

My boat has 65-85hrs on it. In Washington we only have a few months a year to use them. The gentleman told me his looks new. I'll definitely have it checked out.

My honest opinion. Your boat has very low hours on it, id keep it and save your money. Spend a little to upgrade the trolling motor and throw some new electronics at it and go fishing. Really the 884 and 882 are pretty much the same hull. If i remember correctly the 884 savage hull was a little faster then the 882 was and they both fish about the same.

If it was me long as the boat is in good shape and structurally sound id just keep it. Going from an 18'4" boat to an 18'2" boat your not really gaining anything.

Im kinda going thru the same thing with my 882 being replaced by a z7 but my 882 had a kinda major hull issue caused by an accident so i didnt have a choice but to get a new one. If given the option my 882 would have been mine for years to come.

Hey Dragon, nothing wrong with Craigslist. I bought my nitro 700lx-DC from a guy on there in Nashville, I drove there from Atlanta to check out the boat and take it for a test run. I got one hell of a deal on it...much better than anything I could find in ATL! As with buying anything from anywhere...its buyer beware. Do your homework on what ever it is your are looking for and know how to inspect it before you buy it. If looking at a boat in a different town or state you better know how to inspect an engine and hull properly to make sure you arent getting the shaft. I also got our "new" hottub on there, was 2 years old and I saved several thousand dollars off what it would have cost me to get a similar one, again...I knew what to look for and what to avoid.

PLus...if you are selling it beats the heck out of paying ebay anything and you also avoid shipping!!

Go to www.nada.com and compare both boats that will give you some idea.

Craigs List rules!

In the past year I have bought a Lowrance iWay, new (well barely used, they were take offs) tires for my truck and a laptop (just last night). I got all that for under $900....

Go to www.craigslist.com. Then click the state you live in and it will bring up a list of cities in that state. Then click the city nearest to you, and it will have all of the ads from that area.
