Found this browsing the net:
"The recycle bin is set to 10% of HD size by default. Way too big! Right click on recycle bin, select properties, and change the value to something more reasonable, like 400-500MB, which should be 3% or 2%. One can regain 2-3 GB of drive space this way."
I freed up 2 Gigs worth of space...this old dog learnt a trick.
