Has anyone ever experienced, the power on your trolling motor, going up and down, while it's on the same setting? I noticed it last year, but I thought maybe it was all in my head. I replaced the trolling batteries this year, and now it seems more noticeable. The motor is a brute 67 Motorguide 24 volt. I'll be going along on a particular setting (it's variable speed) and sometimes when I click it on again, it seems like I have to turn it up, or down, to get the same power. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I would check ALL connectors, fuseholders, etc... sounds like a bad connection or it could be the rheostat/pot on the motor... And, for a final thought, water in the motor will cause rust which will cause drag/problems....

Greg's probablly right on. might also pull the prop and see if there is any fishin line tangled up in there around the shaft.

Thanks guys, but what the heck is the rheostat/pot, and how do I check it?

rheostat/pot... the variable speed control... if it is "bad" you can get shorts across the windings...... But if it is a MinnKota its not a rheostat... its actually a switch... so check all the connectors and the motor shaft... that "line" thing could also be a possible casuse of problems

bill call rob at Nissitissit Sales and Service at 978-433-2044 he can get you fixed up. they are the best.

Hi Jim, I was thinking of dropping him an e mail. Well, I checked for line under the prop, none there. I noticed when the charger was plugged in for a while, one of the batteries seemed to need more charge than the other,(green lights on one, a few red ones on the other)
