Thanks all. It seems to use just a bit more gas than my 4.7 dakota. Maybe it will get better after break in. With 310 horses though I can't ask for much better.

Chris F you busted me. I already broke the towing break-in procedures. It was a two short runs to the local lake 20 min away. Luckily it is a good and flat ride there with no strain on the truck. Clark
 
I use to have a 1997 Dakota 4x4 V-8. Now I have a Ram 1500 Quad-cab Hemi and it gets better mileage. The hardest thing to do was follow the break-in procedures. Put 500 miles on the truck( 50 mph or less) before I could tow(for 500 miles at 50 mph or less). Talk about being a road hazard, going down I-70 at 50 mph. :huh:Chris F.

If you read your owners manuel, most manuels will say not to tow with in the first 500 to 1000 miles.
