Reference to the post about Al Gore and "huggin trees", I don't understand how people who profess to be avid sportsman, and are so quick to use our natural resources for their own pleasure, make fun and ridicule the idea of wanting to protect our natural resources. This needs to change, or someday our grandkids won't have anywhere to hunt/fish/do whatever.



Everybody has their own political views, and that's their right, but it doesn't make sense to claim to love the outdoors, and to use them at your will, and to teach your children to love the outdoors, then to turn your back and laugh when someone wants to protect the very thing you claim to love and use so freely.

John G.... Here's a serious reply... "We" ridicule the "tree huggers" because the label "Environmentalist" has been hijacked by the eco-terrorists...the PETA folks... We "Sportsmen" are just that...loving, appreciative, careful, sensitive, USERS of our natural resources... I have nothing in common with some fringe idea holder that hunting should be banned...that fishing should be banned...that only hikers and bird watchers should be allowed onto public lands... There wouldn't be any environment left to protect if Sportsmen of the past hadn't voluntarily voted to be taxed to fund conservation... That's why!

I thought it was the kind of thing H. Ross would say to Al if they were really talking. Maybe it isn't. I have a Perot for President t-shirt that I wear when I'm painting the house or doing yard work, and I do a pretty mean H. Ross Perot imitation.

I don't take anything personally, I don't affiliate myself with any political party in particular, just stating my dissapointment with the overall seemingly lack of concern by people as far as protecting the environment. I enjoy this board as much as anybody, especially for the attitude people here have towards being respectful and constructive, as opposed to some other boards. I'm not an Al Gore supporter per say, my vote in the last election would have went to McCain hands down if he would have gotten the nomination, I see plenty of things to make fun of Gore and other politicians for, I just don't think being environmentally conscious is one of them.



Now if I can just find more than 2 bass over 12 inches in early spring, I'll be happy.
