Hey guys,

Do you store your motor in the down position or do you leave it in the bracket when you store it?

I was told always leave it down so it can properly drain completely. If left up

water could freeze during cold weather or evaporate when its hot leaving dirt/sludge to harden

and clog. Mike L.

Leave the motor down. If it is up, the prop exhaust hub can also collect water that may freeze. I usually wrap the prop in a plastic bag for the winter.

I understand to store it down in the winter, Im curios about summer, half the boats i see stored are up and other half are down, I have gotten two different answers from dealers.

I store mine up on the transom saver during late spring/summer/early fall, but I lower it to the full down position (skeg lightly resting on a block of wood) during the winter. I also put jack stands under the trailer frame during the winter. That way, if I climb up into the boat, the devastating effects of adding my weight to the boat won't damage the skeg. During the spring/summer/fall, I alway drain the propeller hub after I trailer the boat so very little/no water is left to evaporate.
