Sue, Questions on a Guest Model 2608 single bank charger.

1) When the battery is charged is both the red and green light supposed to be on? It starts out on red, but then will either stay on red or eventually get to a red and green light on at the same time. Never just a green light.

2) This charger has already "boiled" the water level way down at least twice in the last few weeks. Would you know why this would happen if the charger is working correctly?

The charger is approx. 4 yrs. old. Just noticed this problem lately. Came with a new 2001 PT175.

Thanks - Carl

Carl, My 2608 is red when bat is is very discharged, red & green when mostly charged, and just green at full charge. Mines 4yrs old and no tbl so far!

Sue is the authority though, not me!

Carl, I was having the same symptoms you are having and I thought for sure it was the charger because my battery (Interstate) was less than a year old. I took thye battery in and had it tested and it tested OK but it for some reason would not take a "full" charge and put the charger in the final stage (green light). I borrowed a 2 year old AC Delco battery just to check and sure enough it charged and went right to the green light stage with no problem. It's a pretty good chance that it's your battery especially if it has boiled down enough to where you had to add water. I know what brand of batteries I will be buying from now on!

Carl,

It could be the charger. Please call me at Guest toll free at 1-888-483-7865 ext 135 and I can help you troubleshoot it.

Thanks for the reply Sue. I do not know if I will be able to call you this week. If not I will try early next week.. Thanks again.

Jeff R, I am with you about the AC Delco Deep Cycle batteries. They are by far the best and longest lasting batteries I have ever owned. I don't understand how the maintenance free part works. I know about the jell filled batteries. But ac delco are not the jell type. How do they keep the water inside?
