Hey guys, I just stumbled onto an awesome deal. At the American yacht sales in Dickinson TX there is a '98 TR-20 with 175 on it. It's a repo, but they went from $16,900 to $8,000 to get it off the books by year end! I have called the bank to get a check. I confirmed it is not a typo and they won't hold it as they have had tons of calls for it. I don't want to drive 24 hours and 1800 miles to have it gone or not in good shape. Any chance any of you can look at it for me? It won't last long. The girl claims it has a good scratch in the glass up front but a glass shop quoted $300 to repair. That and the carpets are faded. I can live with that for the price. If you guys could help I would be extremely grateful. I have always wished I were around for a steal deal like this. Hopefully this is my shot. If not, I would at least like to see someone here get a shot at it. I have tried Buzz today about a ROADTRIP!!!!

No Thanks..., I've made that trip for the boat that I currently have up for sale.

Correction.....1915 miles and 31 hours.....ONE WAY! Oh come on Buzz... mister, I can drive that in my sleep and you usually do! LOL Think of all the fun we could have! I'd even buy you lunch and dinner. All the Sunkist you could drink and some jerky!

I left on Sat. at noon and was there by 7:00 PM Sunday, picked boat up Monday morning and had all the paper work done by noon and was home Tuesday by 9:00 PM..

I would leave tomorrow morning after getting the check and try to be home by Sunday night. I'll spend $400 in gas and food going down and back! Hope the bank gets me the check by tomorrow, if not, I'm toast. This boat won't last thru the weekend. I intend to call before I leave to ask for 24 hours to hold that I have the check and am in route. I can just see me getting there and it being just sold or something. I would strangle somebody!

Couldn't you throw a deposit down to hold it? They should take a debit card or cc over the phone for that...

Road trips are COOL! When I went to indiana to get my boat I had them email me tons of pics beforehand. Maybe they can do that for you Rob? That deal almost makes me think I shoulda waited on getting the 896... LOL

Rob I'd like to help, but I wont be anywhere near there this weekend. Sorry. If you hear of something in the Austin/San Antonio area I can check it out for ya. Good Luck

Good Luck Rob, my place might work as a layover on the way down or the way back. Free food, beer and a place to crash.

TOXIC

Bank just put a 2 day hiccup on it for me. Don't know now. My mom wants me to use her credit card to buy it! Ha, she's a trip! If it's meant to be, it will happen. Gotta go do some scrambling now.....calls to make. Later.

The dealership is south of Houston, which is several hours from Dallas (where I am). I ALMOST bought a boat from them, but found a better deal locally. Sorry, I'm just nowhere close to them.

This sucks, dude! I JUST got back from Galveston...was visiting clients and hunting ducks. Had to drive thru Dickinson to get home.

Wish I would've checked the board this morning! Would love to see that boat at $8k.

Best of luck on the boat Rob. Nice site they have, and they do appear to have some deals. May be a place to check into now and then. I'll be in Houston the week of New Years - driving to Texas for the holidays.

May have to change my mind and take the SUV instead of the car. Hmmmmmmm.

Tex

And Rob, when you ask 'all you Texas guys'. . . .

Texas is kinda spacious. Not like that dinky little state that you live in.

Tex

Yeah, yeah, whatever. Dinky state, I think you mean VT! LOL I went to the member listing and there's about a gazzillion people from TX, so I just shouted out to all of them. Figured somebody had to be close. Besides, I think they sold the boat today. Have to call in a little while to confirm. Still waiting to hear on a check. I could be calling Jim this afternoon and cancelling our hunt, but with my luck for boat deals, probably not! Nothing personal Jim! LOL

Keep an eye out on the site. Never know when they are going to have others. I'll probably at least take a pass down there while in Houston, just to browse around and see what they have.

Vermont - is that still a state??? I thought it was a Canadain province.

Tex

Hey, Vermont is still a state and a free one at that! Our state laws give us the right to hunt, fish and carry handguns (concealed or open carry) without a permit!! Also, Rob is only allowed to fish here and he has to go back to his side of the lake before nightfall!!

Bob G.

They also have the right to run redlights and stop signs. Same sex marriages, raise a moose in their living room, drive 4-wheelers in the carpool lane as long as they have a rider behind them and can deduct chew on their taxes! Yes sir, VT is the state for me! LOL NOT! I was ready to move there when they elected Hillary in NY, but then they passed civil unions there. Can't win. (I am not passing judgement on anyone relax! I just don't advocate that lifestyle and won't subject my family to the displays I've seen in Burlington, on a daily basis!)

Rob,

I agree witch ya!! Can't live in Burlington or with Hillary!! Need to move to one of the islands...

Bob G.

Vermont is still a US state for now. we have set up our military right over the hills and in Champlain and Mephramagog ready to attack and take it over.

Canoes and bush truck ready!! here we go.

I was just on the site and it looks like a great buy! I live in Dallas and your welcome to stop in for a lay over if needed. Cell phone # 214-402-8898

Good Luck

Kraig, I think it's already gone and they won't hold it until I get there. I'm not taking the chance to drive it and the boat be sold hours before. They told me a BUNCH of people are intending to look at it today and tomorrow. Figures. Plus even if I had a warranty I couldn't take it back down there. With Buzz's 896 or Mac's 901, I know what I'm getting. Hell, Mac's 901 has a BRAND new powerhead on it. Plus he'll throw in a new/extra TM still in the box. Can't go wrong there for like $5 G's under book.

Buzz - You gonna let Rob talk that way about Mac's boat? Didn't you get a non-refundable deposit from him yet??? LOL

I am undecided. Plus Buzz hasn't sold his house yet. I thought if he didn't sell the house he was keeping the boat, so I am keeping options open. But then last night on the phone he said, (when Mrs. Buzz couldn't hear) he was getting rid of the 896 for a new boat either way this season. I have to talk to Mrs. Buzz to be sure I can buy it first. If not, I am seriously considering Mac's. That's a wicked deal that wasn't available when Buzz and I talked. But FIRST and foremost I HAVE to sell mine. I am putting posters up everywhere and putting it in the paper and on web sites. Any help would be greatly appreciated. You won't find a better deal for a first time tourney rig at this price. There's a day on the water on the "secret" honey holes for whoever gets me the lead that sells it.

Rob - you got yours listed on all the fishing web-site (BHFP, Bassboatcentral, boattraderonline...)?? And the local papers? I know it's also a bad time with the economy so keep up the advertising and word of mouth! Good Luck!
