I know you guys both have Eagle electronics. Do you take them off the boat at home and each night? By looking at the terminal hook ups, it appears that they could were out easily if I keep disconnecting and connecting? I was wondering if I should take them off, and store them in a compartment or not, for both trailering and anti-theft. What do you guys do?

We both take them off when trailering,....store them out of site,...either in the truck or in a compartment. If I'm only trailering a short distance,...i leave them on the boat, since i store it in my garage anyway,...i never worry about theft....call me a fool....but that's what insurance is for!!..LOL

The other concern here guys is the extra vibration and slight impacts that they take on the highway.

Ihave always felt it reduced the life expectancy of them, and I did read an experts advice in one of the trade magazines that prompted me to do that. I also will trailer them a short distance, but not more than a few miles normally.

My worry is more of constantly connectin and dis-connecting. Will that wear out the harness on the ducer and temp cables? Or the fitting in the back of the unit?

I usually disconnect mine and reconnect at the launch. There is a concern for wearing out the terminals. Well not actually the terminals, but where the wire meets the plastic. Just be aware not to put any additional stress to the wire and you should be ok.

Try not to store the units in the boat, as you will be subjecting them to the same vibration and stress as if they were mounted. Put them in the truck....

i have had eagle and lowrance for 10 years(some are that old) and i agree with mini. i have wore out the cables(right where mini says) but never the terminals. our local "dicks" store carries them in stock. pretty handy.stan
