Looking at a Nitro

Went and looked at a 99 896 savage yesterday. Boat is in EXCELLENT condition, looks almost brand new.....no wear or holes in carpet or seats, dual console, only electronics in boat are a flasher in the dash. No fishfinders. Trailer has some surface rust around all the diamond plate, and he wants 13 grand. Would i be out of line offering him 11?????????

Mark, look in the swap & Sell, there's a 96 896 for $6900. I don't know if it's anything your interested in or worth going the distance for you but I thought I would mention it. I can't recall who's selling it.

Sounds "high" to me for that boat and this time of year.... What motor? But, NADA lists $11,000 - $13,000. Condition does make a big difference.... But that will be an 8 yr old boat next season.... Could be the 9th season on the water for it.... I would want to have the engine thoroughly checked... worth a couple of hundred bucks to have it done thoroughly... If you are not an "expert" in fiberglass boats... find someone who is and have it checked.... Especially the transom area.... Looks do not disclose a waterlogged plywood transom....

Mark - Don't know much about that specific boat, but as Greg said what motor, that will make a big difference. Also "Would i be out of line offering him 11" in a buyers position you are NEVER out of line offering any price you feel you want to pay, its the seller's position then to decide if its to low and then he tell's you no deal.

Does the 99 896 have plywood in the transom ??

I asked a local repair shop last nite and they said no wood in the 99 transom.





BTW, I paid 13,900 for my 99 896 2 months ago. This boat was in A+ condition and has always been kept in the garage. Lots of extras, prop, new trailer tires, 3 new batts.

the boat is in A+ condition. 3 new batteries, 4 new trailer tires, motor is a Merc 200......original owner......if the boat was used 4 times a year.....thats alot. it really is in beautiful shape. No wear at all on carpets or seats. hull is mint. No scratches! only electronics are a handheld gps......but i would change whatever was in there anyway to the electronics i want.

It doesn't show much wear but you still have to check everything out very well.
