I have a tournament v 17

Aluminum boat

The livewell has a copper pipe coming in the bottom for drainage. has pvc overflow tube attached. the overflow tube has a tendency to fall off any suggestions on keeping it in place so the livewell doesn't drain while under way?

thanks

Are your talking about the white PVC pipe that stands straight up from the bottom. If it is, then this is probably the easiest fix.

Glue a 3/4" PVC Cross socket to the top of your pipe. And then glue into the top of the Cross socket another short piece of 3/4" pvc pipe that is just long enough to fit under the lid of the live well. Then when you close the lid, it will hold the pipe inplace and the cross tee will allow the water to still drain at the level of the original pipe.

Wow, I find it hard to believe they used copper. What if someone was using this boat in saltwater. The copper would not hold up very long. (Brass might). If it were me, I would try to change it to a rubber hose all the way. But to answer your question. I don't believe their is a glue that will seal copper to pvc. You might try a short piece of rubber hose and two hose clamps. Robert

sorry, after reading again, I see the problem is in the livewell itself. John is correct. If your pvc pipe fits into the copper fitting at bottom of your livewell, about 1" or so, then what John is saying is for you to use a crosstee fitting on the top of the existing pvc pipe, while the other end is stuck in the copper. Then cut a new piece of pvc pipe and install it in the top of the crosstee. The new pvc pipe needs to be cut just below your lid when it is closed. This will prevent it from coming up out of the bottom when boat is moving. Robert

Here is what I Meant. you don't want to glue the drain pipe into the boat. you wouldn't be able to drain the livewell then. THe only glue I would use is to hold the PVC parts together. It's not required. I just like to.

Now if the pipe fits onto the copper in a different manner. Then Something else will have to be done.

Here is a diagram of what I was talking about..
