Well the good news is Eli caught a 2lb LM on his Mickey Mouse combo on Sunday using a 1 INCH red wiggler worm. The bad news is to keep him alive while we were at the beach I left the livewell on auto and blew a fuse. I put a new fuse in and she blew again. I've taken te Rule 500gph aerator pump out and can't tell if it is broken? I took the bottom cover of the pump and it had a lot of sand in it. I can't find anywhere else to take apart, do I assume the pump sucked up sand and broke and just buy a new one?

Any help would be appreciated.

Good job Eli!

Trep, sounds like sand got in the pump. Replace it, they are cheap enough.

Way to go Eli! He's ahead of my wife.

Can Eli come to our get-together in October? I'd like to have one member of the Trepper clan there that can catch a fish! LOL.

In reverse order:

Tex - Heck the rate the boys are reeling them in the'll whoop us BOTH!!

Bill - Good idea i'll flush her tonite and then try her on the battery.

Bruce - If I can't get them to clean out, i'll get new ones.

BUT - When I first decided that i'd just swap them (I have 2 livewells and only one was not working) I accidentaly broke the hose connection right off the working one!! Darn so I gotta buy at least one!

It will be a cheap fix for ya. Lamar hit it on the head the pump got hot and shorted motor when the impeller stopped turning. More than likely nothing got hurt. Fuse is under rated for size of wire. If you disconnect the pump and seperate the 12v+ and neg. (hang free in space), replace the fuse, and turn on the switch. If the fuse doesn't blow. your wiring and switch is not shorted out.

Pump is dead! tried flushing and then hooking directly to battery, no dice. So, now I gotta find a local supplier of these pumps, hmmm Bass Pro Shops is only 45minutes away!!! Now how to get time to go there!!!LOL

My pump quit two weeks ago in the outback of Canada ...nobody, and I mean nobody dealt with Rule (one guy said they had to many returns on them).

went to an atwood pump (they had them in a couple of different marine shops up there in WAWA). Fit right in.

IF I were you I would get an Atwood. They make a better motor IMHO, and Wal-mart among others stock them..

Good to see you back Drugman - So how was Canada? You fishing for Smallies, Walleye or Northerns??

BPS has the Rules but a freind suggested the Mayfair ones with the replacable cartridges, they're only $27 each, gonna pick 2 up at lunch - assuming they fit, i'm taking my old one with me to make sure.

Canada was great, wheather was not great for walleyes as it was in the 80's to 90 and high blue sky....not to mention that the walleyes were feasting on a mayfly hatch...but I am not complaining...we were at a place called Normandy Lodge approx 30 miles west of WaWa..the lake they are on is one of those canadian sheild lakes which means lots of skeg worms (they live deep in the boulders and manage to bite when you least expect it...lol) the owner did a double take when I pulled in with my 750 nitro and 125 merc. (by the way did I ever thank you guys for suggesting the 125 over the stock....man what a drag it would've been to go with the stock 75) He was very nervous about the prospect of a fiberglass boat and canadian granite meeting..but I have been to canada many times and learned to go SLOW until you KNOW....to bad my brother didnt heed my advice ... he is fixing his prop and lower end this week end....

anyway...been to busy fishin to keep up with the board...

Thanks and remember life is short....so take a kid fishing today......and infect them with BASS FEVER....lol

Drugman - i BET they were surprized when they saw the 'glass boat in Canada. We go up every other year north of Lake of the Woods and I almost NEVER see a 'glass boat on the highway.

Took the boys our on Saturday for some beach and Bream and tested the pumps, work great. Now i'm set for Friday AM fishing!!!
