I just ordered a pumpout kit from flow-rite that looks pretty neat and easy to install. They call it the pumpout/aerator kit. Has anyone used one of these? I was going to order the valve, cable, actuator and the thru hull fitting from them but i decided id try this one because its only 22 bucks compared to close to 70 and it looks much easier to install. I just replace the recirc spary bar and install the thru hull fitting and hose and im done. From what they say to operate it you just pull spray head out and turn on the recirc and it will divert to the pumpout. It seems like the simplest way to get a pumpout for those of us who dont have it.

Jim,

just checked this out on the website and it looks really good to me. I was thinkin of adding a pumpout feature to mine as getting those catfish out of the livewell at night is sometimes an adventure. I was also thinking if a person didn't want to drill a new hole to eject the water, one maybe could tee it into the line where the bilge pumps out. this is really a neat idea. thanks for posting.

Jim,

Looks like a real good deal, and looks like it will do the job. Last year I did the $70 thing to add the pump-out. The kit you ordered was not available then. I also changed the stock valve to the auto type, which I really like (I never could seem to remember to switch to re-circ before making a long run). The new Flow-rite online store is also a great improvement.

JD i thought about putting a tee on the bilge line but after thining about it a bit i thought water might go into the bilge as well because it will go by the pump. im going to drill the hole and put the new fitting in. should be no big deal.

I have the pump-out feature on my 901. It really is an advantage instead of having to crawl under the back to get water for the weigh-in bag.

The only problem I've had with it is the valve doesn't close all the way and the pump continues to pump out some water. Not a problem when in the water because you can just kick in the refill pump. However, for a long wait for weigh-in, you'll lose a lot of water with the recirculate pump running.

I bought a couple of the 5/8 plugs and put them in the outlet holes when I come in. That keeps from losing any water until I'm ready to lower the water level.

Jim,

you are right,

probably a good idea to ge ahead and put the thru hull fitting in after thinking about it some more. Pumping that water in that line may cause the bilge pump to rotate backwards and it may get some of the water in which isn't the idea. thought i'd save drillin another hole in the boat but it may not work out so well. I think I will get one of those kits also as they seem like the answer for pump out.
