O.K. Heres my problem. My 1996 170TF says it has a aireator which it does as your filling it. But if you have fish in it do you keep the pump running ? or do I need to add a recirculating pump , will that help. If so any suggestions? also what kind of "stuff" (presidential term )do you use in the livewell to help keep the fishis alive!

You see I've signed up to go to the Tracker Jamboree and that will be my first experience in a tournament . my concern is to keep the fish alive. Also do you have to have your own bag for weigh-in ? and who about the fish markers that BPS sells are they used or helpful.any help you guys could give would greatly be appreciated.i don't mind swollowing my pride to gain the experiance ,I just want to save some for the next time I have to do it!

Thanks.

My livewells do not have a recirc system. I have added a simple setup of the "minnow bucket" type of standing pipe on top of the motor...about $20 at walmart to each livewell...wiring was simple and I added a timed switch. So when stopped I run the livewell pump on auto and then when running I switch on the recirc pump(s). If you're interested in more info I'll e-mail details.

Mark-

If the water is not too warm, I only use the "automatic" feature on the recirc/fill pump. If it IS hot, I'll run both the "auto" setting and the recirc pump.

I don't add anything else to the livewell...been doing tournaments for 2 years and have had only 1 fish die...he was tasty too! hahaha

I'd get a "fish bag" and keep it in the boat.

I'm with you on the "fish markers"...not sure what that is..

Mark,

After my second fish ( I weigh everything fast on a Berkley Scale ) I mark/tag and record the weight on the system that I have...floats, and a marker board. When I have had those opportunities to "cull" the extra 4 minutes (one per fish) that it takes to record the info, suddenly looks real wise...no guessing on which one is the "L'il" one. And they are easy to retrieve and release. No harm to the fish. BTW, I use "Catch and Release" and ice (the ice, when air temps are above 75 degrees) as soon as the boat is off the water. I believe it helps the fish and I also believe they don't lose weight.

Thanks guys, thats what I was looking for .

Greg for twenty bucks that sounds like the way to go.I'll see if I can hook it up if I have any problems I'll give you a yel. thanks.
