I have a question regarding the ability for a transom to carry the extra weight of a kicker motor. My 2001 PT 175 is rated for a 75 hp engine that weighs 305 lbs (2-stroke) or 386 lbs (4-stroke). I have the lighter 2 cylinder, 2-stroke 40 hp that weighs 176 lbs. My kicker motor is a 6 hp that weighs 73 lbs.
My 40 and the 6 have a combined weight of 249 lbs, and that is 56 lbs less that a 2-stroke 75. My logic tells me there is no threat of the transom being over-burdened by the kicker motor
