key problems

Hello Everyone. I am new. Just bought a 1997 Nitro 640 Lx wednesday but need some tips. This is my first boat so I don't know much about it. I am having an issue with getting the key out of the ignition. I have ordered a manual but don't expect it till next week. I put the keys in last night when i was showing my wife the boat that "she" bought and I couldn't get the key back out. Is there a special trick to it. I tried everything I knew to do without taking a pair of pliers to it. Someone told me to spray some WD40 in it. Will this hurt the ignition?

Not trying to be a smart $$$ but did you make sure you turned it all the way back to the left first?
