I went to Kentucky Lake this weekend for what should have been an incredible day of catching spawners. Unfortunately all the fish were smaller than they should have been. I caught 40-50 fish that averaged about 1 1/4 pounds with only eight that broke the 2 pound mark. Usually this time of year you catch 30 fish that average 2 1/2 to 3 pounds. I wasn't complaining because even though the average size was way down, there were a couple good fish out. My best five went 19-2 and was helped a lot by my biggest public water fish ever, a 6-9 that was my first fish of the day. I would take another day like that anytime.
My two biggest, 6-9 and 3-13.
