Ken,

How's your son doing at Fort "Lost in the Woods". As I recall, Harry Truman had basic training there for WWI...LOL. Hope he's not still sleeping on Harry's mattress.

So did Elvis! My basic training class was the last one in the old barracks at Ft. Leonard Wood. We were told our building was the same one Elvis stayed in...I'm sure all the old buildings had the same BS story!!

As a former Infantry officer, I don't like to give too much praise to Engineers. However, the museum at FLW is very cool. A recent addition includes a picture of my late grandfather (a combat-engineer) driving a bulldozer onto Normandy beach (my grandmother found it when she was packing).

Ken, I would definitely suggest going to his BCT graduation and touring the museum. Also check out Daisy's Spa!!

He's homesick, sore and tired, and he told me in his last letter that he never knew a toilet could come so clean!!! He should be finishing up Phase One today ands beginning Phase Two tomorrow...fun stuff, weapons, hand grenades, blowing stuff up!!!

Thanx for asking, and I'll keep you guys posted.

Ken,

Good to hear he's "hangin in there". If he was not sore and tired I'd be worried. It is amazing the cleaning skills you acquire in basic training! Fact is a few years after basic while touring SE Asia I came to long for a clean porcelain pot...
