Sorry for the posting error....but now that your here,
Have used a small, portable free standing BBQ with a lid that was sold under the name "Hasty Bake" for years (mine's falling apart now). Sure would like to pick up a new one....I think that company was in New York? Anyone ever heard of them and know how to go about getting another? If you camp and cook these things are great for any kind of cooking and fit in a box for transport....
OHHHH, OK, now we're getting somewhere. Where in NY? Tom, do a search for it on the web and let me know what you find. If I can get one for you around here and ship it, I will.
Did the search and there's a company that makes em' by that name but they only have a stainless model the costs over $300...I remember getting mine (steel job) for less than $50 25+ years ago...inflation and upgrading will be the end of us all!!!!!
All four siblings in my family bought them for our "family" camp trips every year and one by one they have gotten broken down and trashed. My ex-brother-in-law (key word: "ex") even built one in stainless at his place of business (mechanic for local newspaper, back when private work @ work was called "government" work) that was four times the size with fold up legs tall enough so that you wouldn't have to bend over to cook and it would bake 2 turkeys at one time (12-18 of us would camp together and we ate good in those days!)...took two guys to carry it and a 3/4 ton pick-up to deliver it to camp but we all could leave our portables at home from that point forward.
Now I just need one for the wife and I to do our yearly week in the mountains and weekend sleep overs while bass fishing away from home...maybe I can find a sheet metal shop that'll build me one cheaper than Hasty Bake will supply it(or get my ex-brother-in-law to build a smaller one at work on the sly)Ha.
I'll tell you one thing though....those are the best designed little portable BBQs you can take with you when you're out in the wild and like to cook some great food! Done cooking, close em' up and re-use the charcoal the next time...
