It's stuck....and I can't get it out!!!!!!!

The post for the rear seat is stuck in the boat. I put a C-Clamp on the button to push it in so that I could use both hands. I used Rubber band strap wrenches and could not, to save my life, get it to twist, move or even budge. What could be in that hole which is making the post so hard to get out? I am about to resort to a pipe wrench and having at it. I don't care if I damage it, I want to replace it with a same size post that is in the front and putting a bicycle seat on it.
