Is my motor too deep?

How deep is a motor supposed to sit on a boat? I have a 2003 Nitro 188SF with a 115 merc on it. The motor is mounted as deep as it can go (rigged this way from the marina). It is hard to steer unless it is trimmed way up. Also when I'm going WOT it sprays like alot of water is hitting the motor. Is there a way to tell if the motor is too deep? What is the normal?

Depends on your usage. My ideal motor height while fishing is not good for when i take the family out and ski. It is a system of trial and error, with a lot of factors to be considered. Talk to your nearest nitro dealer about the correct setup for your situation.
