Hello crew.I got a question on warranty on my new motor.I got a merc. 150 and if im getting the warranty its time.I've turned wrenches at a merc dealer so im pretty well mechanically inclined on them.Do yall think the 1100 dollars would be worth it?Any info would be helpfull .THANX

i usually don't buy extended warranties on anything that i believe is a quality product. mercs are a quality product. my thinking is if it is an optimax or maybe an efi, go ahead and get the warranty. if it is carburated, maybe not. if you are going to run it hard in some ruff conditions and tournament fish warranty would be a good idea. still, $1,100 is a lot of money for something that "might" go wrong. things do happen though and i guess it is rollin the dice. either way, make sure all of the maint work is done on your motor and take care of it and it will last. some of the others which have more experience should be able to give you better advice.

I have to agree with James, I have 150 xr6 also and they just sent me the litterature to update my warrenty. I'm not for the above stated reasons. I take good care of my engines and do most of my own maintenance. This particular engine will last way past the extended warrenty period unless you abuse it. Even then they usually make it past the warrenty period. My advise is start a savings account and put the money away that you would have spent on the warrenty. Put into 90 day CD's and earn some interest. Better you than them. Just my two cents.
