In this case, web site speed, not boat speed (although I like both).

I'm tweaking software this evening to improve the message board performance. You may notice that the format is altered a little bit...help, new message, search, and preferences have been moved to their own forms, to keep the message board pages a little smaller and faster loading.

Please bear with me (and let me know) if you encounter any problems (you guys are my guinea pigs). I hope you'll see some faster message board performance with the new arrangement.

Thanks!

Pardon me, just testing the reply function.

Oh, forgot to mention, preview is temporarily disabled.

One of the things I like about this site is that it loads faster on my old computer (Windows '95, etc.) than any other site I go to.....

Hi Rich

This is off topic, but I am using my cell phone as a modem, so regular e mail does not work. Are you looking into the virus problem associated with your site? I got it from another member but it was blocked. Another person got it from Tracker. Other members got it also but deleted it before they could find out who sent it.

Thanks

Roger Noel

Roger, there is no virus problem associated with my site. Asking that is akin to asking an elementary school principle what he is doing to stop school kids from spreading the common cold between each other.

The virus you refer to (and many others), spread by getting addresses from email address books and cached web pages. I have no control over people's email address books. I have eliminated email addresses from as many places on this site as possible, however, to remove them entirely would be a limitation that would be unacceptable.

Follow the standard practices for protecting your PC from viruses. Don't open email attachments unless you are expecting them. Update your anti-virus sofware. Etc.

Jamie, I take security seriously. As a publisher of several web sites like this one, I have to deal with security issues for thousands of members. I get some fairly whacky requests about blocking spouses, kids, co-workers, etc. I am unwilling to add functionality that "remembers" logins. You are asked for your password only once during a session, and only if you are posting or doing some other restricted activity (editing My Library, accessing Group Buys, etc.). That's pretty easy for most folks.

Several browsers, including Internet Explorer, provide "remember password" features. They are available if this is an important issue for you.

How do I keep "Tigger" from using my identity while I'm gone this weekend?

Scott - What do you mean "this weekend?" He's been posting for YEARS on the BFHP under your identity! LOL His Cat Box humor is great!

Hey rich if you really "need" some speed I could try to remember some pushers who ought to be getting out around now...LOL
