I gave notice at my current employer a couple weeks ago, I guess most would remember the bonus thing, well my current employer is trying to persuade me to staying on with them.

I would get a higher ranking job if I stay, with a staff of my own, but future of job would be uncertain based on Merger with Texas company. Pay would be flat.

Commute would stay @ 68 miles roundtrip vs. 94 miles roundtrip. I would also be able to work virtual office a needed basis.

New company is slightly higher base salary, progressive industry, very new company, was told I would progress rapidly.

What do you all think?

Never stay at a job that won't give you what you want to begin with. If you stay....sometimes(not always) it will be the last you'll ever see. That's just 2 cent:)

I've had numerous persuasive offers that I never took and moved on to better things:)

You know who you should ask about SBC... Mike Snow!

Chris, I kinda like that they are offering you more and better..... How do you feel about the people immediately above you? Are they good people? Will they continue to take good care of you? SBC is going to need some really good people to help them through this acquisition.....

While corporations can be hearless - those above you will make all the difference!

Much like my situation (but staying in the same company)I had to give it a chance. Although I am not 100% confident I would get the new job, I had to try.

How long have you been at your current company and are you happy?

My question is simply:

Why were you looking in the first place? The answer to that, probably tells you the answer.

Yeah, I really don't have much to offer on the topic. This merger/acquisition has a whole different dynamic than any of the mergers I've been through where we purchased other CLECs.

My perspective is if you have to quit to get your boss/company to come to the pump then you would be better off elsewhere. Once they know you can be brought back with $/promo why would they ever pony it up front in the future. Plus if it does not work out going forward then both sides regret bringing you back.

Let me give you my perspective. I left a pretty much dead end job last year for a job in a tottaly different field. I didn't want to leave my current job and was hoping they would step up with some more money and "sweeten the pot". However they did not and I took the offer of the company I am with now. All I can say is I make twice the amount of money than I did last year and actually work about %75 less. I have generous PTO, usually 2-3 days a week. All my life I wanted to be in a line of work that allowed me lots of free time during the day and some travel. Well now I have it since Company A didn't "sweeten' the pot". Sometimes the pasture is greener on the other side.
