Greg,

I found that my transducer had come loose from the epoxy in the hull, so I went the other route and mounted it on the transom, which seemed to fix the fluctuating depth reading. I still have the problem with the lines at the top of the screen (surface clutter). The surface clutter appears normal in the simulation mode, so the unit has the capability to portray it correctly, but in normal mode, it simply appears as solid colored lines across the top. I even went into advanced mode and reduced surface clutter to zero. Any words of wisdom from anyone? Fortunate I purchased a three year extended warranty, so I have it if I need it......thanks.

JP

PS: Haven't found anyone with a humminbird mount so I can test my unit on their boat, nor have I had a chance to get out and run WOT on chop to see if it still shuts off intermittently.

JP,

Are those pictures of the 787 with the 83kHz turned on? If so, try setting the Beam Select menu to display on the 200kHz data. Also if you have updated your unit this year; make sure that the TVG menu is set to the On position. Otherwise that looks to be an awful thick amount of surface clutter. It is also a sign that something may still not be right with your transducer. You said you mounted it on the outside: did you completely remove any epoxy that was still on the bottom of it?

Really need to test swap units with someone else and see if they get the same results and theirs shows the same on your boat.
