Humble pie

I'm glad humble pie isn't fatting. yesterday I was at one of favorite lakes bright and early and caught one fish in eight hours. As I was wiping down the old DC 170 an a old tournament nemisis of mine pulled up with his wife and boat. It was close to 100 degrees out by then and he ask me why I was leaving. Told him there was nothing going on no one was catching anything, water temp was this and that and yada yada yada. He goes on to tell me that's because it's an afternoon bite and the hotter the better and he tells he has fished early and had results same as me but now he has em zeroed in etc. Yeah Bull!

He then launches and put puts across the cove and starts fishing. Before I get my tie downs hooked up, here he comes back across to the ramp. "Hey Mike look at this, third cast!" pulls out a 21" largemouth measures it and lets it go in front of me.

Grrrrrrrr. He goes back and I finish up I'm late already and gotta go. I'm driving out the parking area and look over and his wife has one on. I get out the binoculars and it's bigger than the one he caught five minutes ago. I can't help it I sit there blocking the ramp and watch the show. Five pounders, on white spinnerbaits fished fast throught the same trees I p&ged, wormed, cranked and mo-joed through for eight hours.

Sheesssh!!!!! Sorry to rattle on but I had vent. Why can't I think to do those things?

Yeah, I hate it when that happens. James D. was always doing that to me. I would be pulling out with nada, just as he was going out. Later he would tell me "Yeah, caught 6 yesterday" I always feel like Charlie Brown. "AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGG!!!!!

The other thing is, that sometimes we provide very useful information to someone on what is NOT working, thereby helping them zero in.



But I'm with you. It can be very frustrating.



Spend the entire day/evening with your partner, and bring in a measily 3 fish between you. All the while thinking that it's a really tough bite. Then get to the ramp, and virtually everyone else has a bag full.

Yeah

I'm a charter member of the "You should have been here last week" fishing club. This guys tied the state smallmouth record twice too. But what the heck he's a great guy even though he fishes out of a Aluminacraft.
