Hull warranty

A buddy of mine asked me this and I really don't know the answer. He is looking a f/s type boats and doesn't care for speed and performance like me. So he's looking at Yamaha, four winns type models, and they all only offer 1 year hull warranty. His and my question is why? What makes a hull only worth 1 year warranty, or 10 year or lifetime?
