Was running down river a couple miles from the ramp when we hit something wicked in the water, had to be metal, maybe part of a sunken barge.Took a chunk out of the skeg right below the prop shaft housing,a little higher, maybe 2" and good buy lower unit, and it put a pretty good ding in the front of that housing.Got on my creeper and got under the boat at home and have 2 identical scrapes aprox 2.5' apart from mid hull all the way to the transom.Mostly just into the gelcoat, but a few close to the transom about the size of a quarter that I can see cloth material . Can I fix that myself, and sand it down smooth or do I have to take it into a glass shop? It really doesn't look like that big of a deal to fix, just cosmetics,or am I way off on this?Oh and just before we hit what ever it was I was almost WOT,slowed down because the water just looked or felt weird, hit at about 40mph,was a little hair raising to say the least, had our pfd's on, but always do when the big motor is past idle.

I would call my Insurance Co. and have it fixed by a pro, as well as the skeg. Sorry to hear that. been there. Good Luck!
