Wondering if any one has fished the Hudson lately, out of Catskill. I am heading there this weekend and every one is telling me to fish the creeks. Just wondering how far up the creeks the fish should be. I guess the water is in the high fourties and the main river is muddy. Any help would be great.

Thank you,

Joel

Without being specific (and not having fished there), I would go up the creeks till you find the baitfish. That's where the bass will be....or very closeby!!

TOXIC

Thank you toxic, i was pretty much going to head as far back as i can. Start there and work my way back towards the main river till i locate fish.

If you are going out of Catskill, you might want to head south and fish the Esopus near Saugerties (can't get too far up that because of the rocks even in high tide); the Catskill (right around the bend from the ramp - check for a 30' drop-off on an s-turn leading toward the mouth of the creek as well as the bridge pilings in the front of the creek) and the Rondout (fish all the way to the water coming off the front of the creek). All of those should give you plenty of smallmouth action in the creeks and largemouth leading to the creeks. If you do go south from the ramp, and you want to save some money in gas, there is a free ramp in Glasco (shaves about 5 miles but you go beyond the Catskill) but it is small and not as nice as the ctatskill launch. The best thing isn't necessarilly the end of the creeks but all the boat docks leading up the creeks. There are also some good riprap and pad areas on the other side. I don't have my gps on me right now or I'd give you some buoy coordinates. I am actually going to be going that way on Sunday night without my boat though. Hope you catch some bass!
