Here's what I hope is a simple question....

My boat is a 2002 Tracker Pro Deep V-16 SC. This model has a livewell and a bait tank, which are filled by pressing the Aerator button on the console. (there's also a Recirculate button in the bow for the livewell). To drain the livewell you remove the overflow pipe, how do you drain the bait tank? There is a drain pipe in the bottom of the tank, what does it connect to?

The owners manual doesn't discuss the bait tank. Thanks..

John: I also have the same boat, but a 2001 and the manual isn't very good. If you are doing what I did which the manual say's it is wrong. I was putting the ovet flow pipe in the live well and the plug in the baitwell. Is that what you are doing? If so that is wrong!!! The drain plug,(you should have one that came in a plastic bag with other material) goes in the live well and the overflow pipe goes in the hole of the baitwell. The livewell drains from a fitting under the hull and the baitwell drains from a fitting in the transom. Hope this helps!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry. The reason I ask is that I was out on the lake on Sat. and the livewell filled up but the baitwell only would fill about half way. Had the problem of the pump not shutting off and after reading your message it hit me that I didn't check the recirc button on the bow panel! Thanks!! haha

If the setup is the same as my 2000 Deep V17, the overflow tube goes in the baitwell and the plug in the livewell. At the end of the discharge tubes in the livewell and baitwell, there is a discharge nozzel that screws in and out to adjust flow rate. Since both wells use the same pump, I'll close the nozzel in the baitwell when I don't want it to fill.

I have the Deep V16 also. The drain plug is for the livewell. Pull the plug and drain the livewell. The baitwell has an overflow tube in it that stands up from the bottom. To drain the baitwell pull that tube out at the end of the day. It is only a pressure fit between two rubber pieces. Both the live well and the baitwell have spray nozzles towards their tops that unscrew to let fresh water spray in. If you don't want water going into one or the other you have to screw them shut because they both feed off the same pump. The system really works quite nicely. I love mine.

Thanks for the information.

Let me clarify my question: The bait tank is full of water, there is no plug or overflow pipe in the drain hole. The water doesn't run down the drain hole. Is there a valve somewhere on this drain pipe? Or is something busted.

In the manual the overflow pipe is shown installed in the livewell, and the dealer had installed the pipe there.

Again, thanks for the information.

To my knowledge there shouldn't be any valve to that bait well. Once the overflow tube is pulled out it should drain out the back of the boat. Do you have a kinked hose or some other blockage in the line?

yeh mine is the same setup. When I pull the plug the baitwell drains too. I must have not had the spray nozzel open all the way, hence it didn't fill all the way. I'll have to mess with it next time out. This is my only complaint about Tracker. The manual is useless and noone at the dealership really went too in depth to expalin all the great features of the boat.

OK, I know this topic has been beat to death, but I wanted to share the "fix" with you. A couple of posters spoke about a plug that would be in a plastic bag, it wasn't there. I then remembered that I asked the dealer rep if the transom plug was installed, he said "sure". I then checked the bait tank outletdown on the transom, I guess you can figure the rest. I figure I'm pretty dumb for not seeing this earlier, but I know I'm smarter than the dealer rep. Thanks for the help.

Well at least you got it figured out and it was an easy fix to boot. Now go enjoy the boat.

john, well, it seems the problem's solved, thank God for these people, I've had alot of questions since we got this boat (2002 Pro deep V16), and this board is a life saver......

Mine came with the tube in baitwell, plug in livewell, that's how I've been using it..... oh, and ctsk8r....... had the same happen to me, got home from a day on the lake, was putting things away, and wait, what's that noise? it was my recirc. pump, the bow switch, turns out my 6yr old had been messin around up there, flipping switches, playing with the tilt too, well, I went so far as to unhook the battery cables and was almost going to head over to BPS for help, when I found the bow switch on. Needless to say when my 2 youngest go out with me I now do a THOROUGH check of all switches afterwards....... you all have a great night......
