Hey all:

With cooler weather coming, I'm starting to plan my winter maintenance projects. One of them is to pull the wheels and hubs off the trailer holding the 12' jon boat. I know that I will need new rear seals when I check, clean and repack the bearings, but how do I tell what size hub I have, and correspondingly, what size seals I will need? The trailer is a really old Karavan model and I'm not even sure of the model name. Can I just measure the diameter of the axle? While I'm at it, I might also check the PT175's Trailstar Trailer. How do I find those hub sizes as well? In case you can't tell, this will be my first time pulling hubs off of ANY trailer! Figured I might as well learn on the smaller, cheaper trailer first! Thanks in advance for any help.

The best way is to pull one side off and take everything up to NAPA/Autozone/etc. and have them match it up for you. If the seals are bad I would replace the bearings also. A wheel coming off at 70mph can cause a lot of destruction.
