Anyone have any ideas on how to siphon the gas out of my tank? I have a 700LX and probably about 8 gals to suck out.

Thanks in advance!

Carli

Auto parts stores usually have some sort of small, hand-crank pump. And there are others that attach to a power drill and a couple of sections of hose.

Or..... Do like everyone else and get a mouthfull of fuel! The taste goes away after a few weeks!

me!

P.S. Stick-O's (BPS' version of Senko's) really DO work!

Or, if your boat has a fuel bulb, you can disconnect it from the engine then lower that end down into a gas can and give the bulb a few squeezes.

Duart - yes have fuel bulb...but I tend to think like Mini and a few thousand squeezes later!!!!!

Scott - not sure if I can get a hose in the filler tube. Hubby seems to think that there's a bend or a flap or something that will prevent the gas from coming out the way it went in!! LOL (I don't see the problem) but then I'm NOT the one who's going to be 'drinking' fuel.

Be watching for the mail carrier...package coming your way.

Turn the boat upside down and shake it....sorry, couldn't resist LOL

To syphon, make sure the tubes end is lower than what you plan on syphoning. Disconnect the tube from the engine, add a bit of hose to your secondary container, and squeeze. Once you get some flow it should come out by it's own....

Carli -

As far as I know, there is nothing to keep you from getting a hose - or any kind of plastic tubing - into the tank. Cars may be set up that way but I don't think that boats are.

Why do you want the fuel out anyway?

This mailing stuff back and forth is leading somewhere..... Where, I don't know..... But, if you don't tell your hubby, I won't tell "The Tigger"!

Okay Scott, here's why hubby was thinking of sucking out the gas. The last 3 or 4 years we haven't used up all the gas in the tank so hubby has (end of the season) put in the proper amount of stablier and we've always ran the gas out of the lines.

Now....he's not sure of the stablizer/gas mixture left in the tank. I have a Force engine and have to add oil to the gas whenever we put gas in the tank.

Sooooooo what do you guys think?? Can we just add more gas/oil to what's already in the tank OR should we suck out the old stuff??

Thanks!

Carli

Carli,

How's your engine running? If it aint broke, don't fix it. If you do feel the need to syphon out the gas then I'm with Henry. I bought a fuel line replacement kit at Wal-Mart and pumped the gas out of my truck with it once. It worked great. You only have to pump a few times to get the syphon started. After your done, you have a spare fuel line which is never a bad thing.
