Wow,...what a week's vacation!! Got home at 11pm tonite after 14hrs on the road,...drove home from Williamsburgh, VA. where I spent a week with my brother and his family!! Had a RIOT!! Fished everyday!! (Nothing spectacular, but a TON of dinks!!) Went to Busch Gardens for a day and helped him do some projects around the house,...downed a few beers and martini's,...ate like a KING!! Watched a total of 2 hrs of TV in the last week,...no phone calls except when I made a couple "out going"...checked my email once,...just decided to really take a week off,....didn't miss the TV, phones, computers at all either!!...ahahaaha...back to reality now though,....going to sleep in tomorrow and then get my August Scales and Tales panel and the MotorGuide Tshirt art done for the 'Classic,.......wait'll ya'll see the "Mr.Crappie" Tshirts I just did for Wally Marshall!! They ROCK!!! They'll be available soon through BPS and WallyWorld hopefully,.....We're working on that now, but the quality of the printing is AWESOME,...I'm VERY happy with them!! More later,...time to hit the rack!! I'll have to tellya 'bout the unbelievable bow and arrow shot i put on a swimming muskrat in my brother's lake yesterday too,...35yrds,...NAILED the Varmint!!!!! 3 witnesses too,...they all said,.."HOOOLLLYY @!$!!,...You NAILED it!!"..LOL. They now call me "William Tell!"....ahahah

Later everyone!!

Mac

Trep,...Did your 911 show up yet??? ;o)

A-a-ah-h-h, Misterrr McElroy! You are indeed a man of many talents!

(He said, trilling his R's in his best Irish brogue!)

Welcome home Mac. I know the feeling. I was just on vaca last week myself. It's to bad really sets back in tomorrow morning at 7am. I too fished EVERY SINGLE DAY!!! I fished Winni for 3 days and the smallie fishing was almost as good as Champlain. (Relax Rob, I said "ALMOST"...LOL)

It's weeks like this that make want to increase my 401K contributions. Screw that 65 crap... I'm retiring at 50!!!!

Marke

Marke,

How about hosting a northeast regional rally at Winni?

Bob G.

Ouch!!! Bob, stop twisting my arm!!! That might be something I could arrange with a little help from Curtis. After all, he lives right in Wolfeborough 10 minutes from the lake.

Curtis, next time we're out let's toss this idea around a litttle bit.

Mac - Welcome "Home"!! Sent you an e-mail last week to your GM account check it out in the morning.

I have the football, repeat - I have the football. Confirmed - The package has arrived.

I assume that you're telling the truth since there are no rules regarding lying about muskrat killin with bow and arrows. Great shot Mac.

Bear

Bear,...My Bro lives in a subdivision with a private lake that has their own rules regarding "nuisance" critters such as Beavers and 'Skrats.....they cause considerable damage and they actually hire a dude to come out and "dispatch" the Beavers,.....he usues a supressed .22 and is on call 24-7!!..LOL

Residents have to have chicken wire around all their tree trunks or they're liable to end up in the water!! The Muskrat was swimming along the far shore of the canal he lives on,......I was standing on his dock with my worm rod in one hand and the "Bow" on stand-by incase a Beaver happened to cruise by,........I figured I'd help the "dispatcher" out...LOL..........anyway,...that 'Skrat was swimming by with only his head out of the water,...30-35yds away........i knew if I missed it, the arrow would be retrievable anyway since it would end up in the mud right at the bank on the other side,............well...I set the rod down,...grabbed my bow and release,...knocked and arrow and drew a bead 2" high and followed the little varmint for 3 feet or so and ziiiiing,...WHAP!!!!.....Perfect shot!!! He never knew what hit him!! Dead as a door nail!! My brother and his Brother in-law were standing there and they couldn't

believe it,....my brother is a successful bow hunter in his own right, with several deer to his credit, but he looked at me and said,..."That was an AWESOME shot!!!...Holy @#$!"......ahahahaah....I was just as surprised as he was but I didn't admit it,...I just set the bow down,.....grabbed my beer and took a swig,...grabbed my rod and made another cast,....and politely asked him...."Would you go grab my arrow??...I have a few fish to catch,!"...ahahahaha.....he hopped in his canoe,..paddled over and retrieved the skewered "'Skrat-kabob" and kept telling me for the rest of the day,..."!@$! that was cool!!"

ahahahhahaha,........can't wait to go Bear hunting this Sept!!!....should be easier to hit than a Muskrat!

It was one of my better shots,...I'll admit that!!

Mac

I'm not going for my "first Bear" with a Bow,......takin' the .44mag hollow points for that job!! I may be a decent shot with a bow,...but I'm not stupid!!...ahahhahaahah.....I DON'T want a mad Bear coming after me......I'm not that brave!!..LOL.

Mac..... A word of warning on bear..... I took one about 15 years ago in Canada in early June with 100 gr .243..... Son-of-a-gun was LOADED with TICKS! Must have had 2 or 3 for every square inch of skin. They started to drop off INSIDE my Blazer! Fortunately, we had had the foresight to put a tarp under and around him..... I HATE TICKS!

me!

(Still gives me the shivers to think of all those nasty critters.)

Yeow,....I hate those things too,.......thanks for the warning,.......I was just planning on capping out the hide anyway and putting it all in a cooler,...........I won't bring it home "in" my truck....maybe "on top" of it though!!..LOL...I'd just get it processed up there anyway.

That's hilarious Mac. The hardest part of pulling off a great shot is just being cool like you do it all the time. I loved the line, "I just set the bow down,.....grabbed my beer and took a swig,...grabbed my rod and made another cast,....and politely asked him...."Would you go grab my arrow??... I'm still LOL.

Bear

LOL...I know what you mean Bear,.......I was giddy with excitement myself, but I just HAD to make those guys think it was no big deal....ahahahahaah,,.......I'd been telling my brother about my 3-D archery league scores and details about the league etc..etc......and to pull off a shot like that,...at that point in time with HIM standing there,...was absolutely PERFECT!!! I couldn't have asked for a better time to get the perfect shot....that was a beaut!!!!

He did have to ask me though,...."When you can shoot like that,....how come you never seem to get a DEER??!!"...ahhha...that stung!!!.....I just told him,......."They're too easy,......I'm holding out for another Hanson Buck!"...aahhahah......then of course we had to share a few hunting stories,...both good and embarrasing moments,..........I always seem to have the most embarrasing!!! But they ARE GOOD!!!!!!!!!...ahahaha

Mac,

Well over thirty years ago...We have a lone pecan tree that is in the middle of a field.. it is three hundred and forty yards from the porch of our cabin... The squirrels run from the trees along the river bank to that pecan tree (about 100 yards) and then up the tree..grab some nuts and run back to the trees... One fall after the beans had been harvested and the field plowed...we could clearly see the squirrels doing their thing... In the past I had tried to hunt them but couldn't...never could get close... While my Dad and two of his friends were watching and commenting on the "antics" of the squirrels... I carefully aimed (elevated at about 30 degrees) my Mossberg .22... let fly with a shot...waited and then HIT one of the running squirrels.... (Absolute blind luck!!!) I just sat the rifle down and walked down that field...picked up that dead squirrel...and walked back...just like it was an everyday thing...Not one of my Dads friends said a word to me... Dad did tell me though, that, while I was walking down the field one guy said; "hell of a way to hunt squirrels...doesn't give the squirrels much of a chance from that distance"....

hahahahahahahha,.............man dontya love it when something like that happens??!! What a GREAT story!! My brother is a retired Navy SEAL,...he's always been an awesome shot even before military training,...that just made him even better,....but one time he was deer hunting out in California in the Sierra Nevada range with my Uncle,.......they'd been glassing all day and hadn't seen any deer,...but waaaayyy off in the distance, in a tree top (he saus it was 400yds give or take a few) was a huge black raven or crow,......he could barely see it without the bino's,............anyway, he told my Uncle,..."What would you give me if if I hit that Crow from here with this Weatherby .300mag?!".....Our Uncle just laughed and said,.."Yeaahh riiight,....I'll buy you another gun,.....ANY gun you want!!"....Thinking he was sure to not have to pay up....he watched Gord set up and take aim on that damn bird!!!...POOWWW...that .300 mag would rattle every fiber of your being down to the deepest darkest inner most sanctums of your body!!!!......My Uncle watched through the binoculars as that Crow literally exploded into a black cloud of feathers!!!....My brother as cool and calm as a cucumber said,..."Well,..it was a little low, but there's a sweet gun shop on our way home,....we'll swing by there if you want!"...ahahahhah....my uncle still talk about that to this day,... darndest thing he's ever seen!

Gord got a brand new Browning .20gauge for Rabbit hunting........ .

I'll put my "Bow" skills up against him anyday,...but when it comes to long range rifle shots......NEVER bet against a trained Special Ops soldier,...retired OR otherwise!!..LOL.....The Taliban is finding that out now!!!

Mac

I've got a Ruger .270...that's my deer rifle too..........and I just got my Ruger .44Mag in the model 77also.....that's a great brush gun for deer and bear!!,........I'll take that upnorth with me in sept.....my buddie's tell me a 50yd shot up there is a long one!! Much better suited for the .44 than the .270. I love long range plinking though,......i've got a Remington 700 in a .223 that's a real tack driver,....use it on woodchux on my buddy's farm land in SE Mich............nailem out to 165yds regularly!! Too fun!!...ahahahaha....nasty critters!!

Mac

I shot that .300 mag twice,...gave it back and said "No MORE!",....that's the only gun I've ever shot that truly hurt,...man that thing kicked!!....Had a football shaped bruise 5" long on my shoulder the next day!! And I shoot a LOT,..have never been bruised by a gun before, but that badboy was the first and last one that ever will!!...LOL

There's NOTHING in the woods in Michigan (that I'll be hunting anyway) that needs to be taken with a .300mag!!....

He ended up selling that gun too,.....got tired of expensive ammo,.."scope eye" and sore shoulders!! Bought a .270 instead!! Never regretted selling the cannon!!!

Yo Mac! You are DA MAn!! Did you ever get the pics I sent to you of Treyse? I am glad you had a good time on Vacation and got to spend some quality time with your family. Isn't that what it is really all about? Our anniversary is comung up and the wife wanted to take a vacation or go camping and it took all I could muster not to suggest the Classic. CAn't afford it as we are saving to buy another house. What a good time that would have been! Remind me sometime to tell you about my brother and his rock throwing abillities that has every duck in Kansas scared!!

Tim

hahhaha.......would love to hear that one!....I remember once when I was a kid,..my buddies and I got into "Wrist Rocket" sling shots one summer,.....we got VERY good with those,...I once nailed a flying blackbird once,.....nailed him right outa the air!!...ahahaahaha.....couldn't od that again to save my hiney!!! LOL
