Rob,

Do you know how long it takes to drive to Lake Placid from Plattsburgh? I'm thinking about taking my family to the Outdoor Games on Saturday. The bass fishing final weigh-in is also that day. Kevin Van Dam, Rick Clunn, Davey Hite and Larry Nixon are suposed to be there. Let me know... Thanks.

Depends if you go south through the "notch" or go up 374. I would recommend the notch via Willmington. Should take an hour max from P'burgh. The outdoor games are a great event. Tried to get my dog in last year for the big air contest, but you have to have credentials, and know somebody. I'll tell ya, labs and retrievers have NOTHING on a German that is after a dummy in the water! No, not ME! Everything is free too. Bring your wife, Placid has great shopping and dining. Be aware, it is tourist season, and you're fair game. Bring the bank.

Rob,

Thanks for info. It was a toss up between attending my company picnic or spending the day at Lake Placid and get to see the bass weigh-in along with all of the other cool events - lumberjack and dog competitions. We're going to Lake Placid!! Hopefully KVD will be there for the final on Saturday, as I have not met him yet!!

Good luck fishing, and give them heck!! Jamey and I are planning on going fishing tomorrow out of Rouses Point. Hopefully the lake will calm down a little. Later...

Met Kevin at the FLW. Like Mac says, he is really cool. I said "hi" to him for Mac, and he immediately knew who he was, of course I said Bill. Super nice guy. Larry Nixon too. Larry is on a hot streak this year. He has already won 2 tourneys for over $300k, and still took time out while getting his motor serviced to talk to my boy and I. Never did get to meet Clunn though. He is on my all time favorite's list too. Someday. Have fun. If you're out and about on Sunday, look for me. I don't have any riders yet, so if you're bored.....

I'll be working on Sunday :( I'd rather go fishing, but my work ethics prevent me from calling in sick when I'm not! My kids and I met some of the pros at the Bassmaster University last March and they were all cool to talk to. They wouldn't know me from anybody, but they seemed pretty level headed. My son got Rick Clunn's autograph at the FLW weigh-in and my daughter is hoping to see him at Lake Placid.
