thanks for all the info for the lake.

i got out sunday and monday of this week. the lake is awsome. i made my way down to the cove you told me about. there were already a couple of boats fishing a tourny in there. i did a little fishing there not much.

i went back to some of the other spots around the melvin village area and back into lees mills on monday. the weeds are in but i didn't have much luck with the fish.

water temps avreaged 72f. were are all the fish ???

the tourny is sunday i will let you know how i do.

how was lake champlain ?

Hey Greg

Champlain was a disaster for me, having never been to that section i had no idea what to fish. The slop down there was so bad its unreal, a 1oz jig wouldnt get thru the stuff it would just sit on top it was unreal. the water level was low and the stuff was matted, im glad i have a minnkota trolling motor beacuse the motorguides were clogging up in the weeds like crazy. One guy in my club bunt up his tour edition 80# on sunday. My minnkota was getting them wraped around the shaft but just pulling it out of the water they cleared right off. Both days were very windy and it made boat control tough, my batteries were dead by noon both days.

So did you catch any good fish at winni? i was talking with a guy in my club on monday and he was telling me that the mills area was off, he heard they dupmed weed killer in again and the fish are gone. im not sure if thats true or not but it wouldnt surprise me. I also wonder if the weather moving in and out like it did shut the fish down. Did you get a chance to try center harbor? My buddy was telling me the smallies are on like normal in 6-10 feet like they should be right now and some are real deep as well. He was out there on sat and said he caught plenty of fish in that depth range all over the main lake.

i did shoot out to center harbor. found the nice drop off about 25' from shore line. a couple of boats were already fishing there and pulling up smallies on caralina rigs.

lees mills was pretty heavy with weeds. the milfoil was right up to the surface. but the bite was deffintly off.

caught one small large mouth on a spook and another on green/pumpkin/ chart tail 5 " senko. approx 2lbs in the lilly pads. the wife caught two pickeral on a white 1/4oz spinner. i also fished the markers off joes cove. 20'/15' was marking fish in the weeds. worked a white spinner and watermellon spider jig. no luck. once again the wife caught a 10" smallie on a silver buddy. (not bad for he first time out)

not sure what the game plan will be for sunday. i think i will stick with your recomendation and shoot to center harbor and fish the docks and floats and work my way back on the drop off.

i will let you know how it turns out.

dont forget blackie cove, its right around the corner from center harbor. Blackie would be my first stop.
