Well, since you asked... (hehehehe)

I was gonna wait until I could try to shine her up a little better and get some pictures, but since that'll prolly never happen, I'll go ahead and tell you guys that I bought that little '92 model Astro w/ the 70HP Force. =)

I dunno if you guys remember or not, but it was the one that most people told me was too small and too slow. LOL! We took it out for a test ride, and it did GREAT! From the driver/passenger seats, it rides fine.. No hemorrhoid pads nor full-boxing-headgear required.. It's heavier than I thought it would be, which allows it to cut a wave pretty nicely for such a small boat. Besides, it's as much as my little truck is OK w/ hauling, anyway! HAHAHA!

As far as being too slow, it'll run close to 40MPH with a full 'well, a full tank, and 3 people w/ accompanying 'gear.' (coolers, blankets, pillows, books, blah blah blah) I'd say with just me and a light -- a.k.a. "reasonable" :) -- amount of gear, it'll prolly run mid 40's. Believe me when I say that's plenty enough for me at this point!! I have NO DESIRE to run 70+ on the water (yet!).

The motor runs like a CHAMP, too! I've had it out twice since I got it, and it cold starts quicker than my truck. That's the truth! Once it's started, it idles without the stuttering and hesitation that I'm used to seeing in 2-strokes. Honestly, this motor seems to be sort of a freak of nature so far, IMO.. I couldn't be happier w/ motor performance.

Here's the bad news... I wound up paying the full $3800 for it :( The good news about that is that the guy wound up throwing in basically everything boat-related that he had in his possession. I got 4 lifejackets, two anchors, a nice boat cover, an extra prop, a motor-toter, a $135 big-bertha tube, a couple of nice ski ropes, and some various other stuff that I won't have to buy now.. The way I see it, I could maybe have gotten a similar boat for $3500, but I'd have spent at least the other $300 getting 'water ready.' That said, I'm pretty pleased with the deal, overall. :)

BTW, before I bought it, I looked the pricing up on NADAguides.com. Their listed average retail is about $4500 for the boat w/ a 60HP... I also found out that Astro is a division of Tracker Marine!! I guess that means I 'belong' here now! LOL!

Ah-ha! "Chad"! Now that I've got a name for you, I don't have to tax my aging brain by trying to remember all those initials!

Congrats! Hell, you woulda belonged here even if you bought a R####r or a T####n! (Gotta be careful of my language on this board!)

Now..... Get some pictures in your library of your boat! Don't worry about it not being all polished and that sort of thing - I can't see that well anyway!

me!

congrats on the boat! good for you! i'd say "now post some pics in your library" but........ i haven't done that yet, got the dig. camera, but no clue how to get pics from camera to my library, but i PROMISE to soon, in the meantime, Congrats again, have fun, be safe, catch lots 'o fish!! egMike
