Go to the link below and check out the damage and comments to this 'new this year' Stratos. Found this over on BFHP today.

Be aware, that several of the pic's have masking tape outlining where a major problem is. And Stratos indicates they won't warrant it.

Wow, he definately has a case there. No way a boat should have chunks missing. And those cracks are serious, especially the ones on the keel and bottom of the hull. Transom loose too? Not good for Statos given the massive recall they just experienced for poor design. If I was this guy I would gather all the similar info I could from the other people he says have similar problems, referrence the national recall they recently did for similar issues and sue the mfr for a refund and get out of the boat. I'm sure there is 2 sides to the story, but aside from running a rig at some speed into something, I can't see how this would happen.

Gee and they thought I was rough on boats.....I never had one look that bad.

Oh, man, oh man... That makes us Nitro glass owners happier that we don't shell out more for a boat like that! Geez, it hurts to see the photos especially it's a new boat - I can't imagine how upset I will be when I discover a huge patch falling off from the hull when cleaning it up.

Recall that OMC (parent of Stratos) went belly up. Genmar bought the Stratos assets from the bankruptcy. I don't think they took on the warranty libability with the purchase, so legally, they are not responsible for the boat warranty. I'm sure part of the reason is that the SS series of boats, nice as they look, had a history of production problems.

A broker here in Georgia is trying to move a bunch of "new" 2000/2001 Statos boats from a bankrupt dealer. Most have 'Rude Ficht motors. How's that for a roll of the reliability dice?

I'm sure they'll only sell as fast as unsuspecting buyers can be found.

One of my friends fishes a Stratos Extreme with a Ficht... It is absolutely a great boat...but its a 1999 I believe.

From what I hear, Stratos doesn't cover any stress cracks at all. One of the sales guys was telling me that he had a deposit on an 882 last spring. It was a woman buying the boat for her 17yr old son. Since he was young and inexperienced Mike offered to take her son out and teach him how to drive a bass boat properly.

The woman cancelled the deal and bought a Stratos because another dealer BASHED Nitro. Well, a few months later the woman came back and asked if Nitro warrantied stress cracks. Mike said yes and the woman almost broke down and cried because her sons boat was trashed and Stratos or the other dealer wouldn't do anything about it.
