OK, I was part way through my spring regiment when I drilled a new hole in the transom for my new Eagle ducer. I drilled slightly off of the bilge trough area, and water began to trickle out. If you look in my bilge area, there is a trough that runs from bow to stern (Not Rich)! On each side of this trough are two raised "platforms/compartments" that I assume are filled with foam. There are no apparent ways into these. They are capable of being drilled into as this is where the battery trays and oil resevoir are mounted. Two problems, one, don't know how to get the water out to prevent rotting, two, how it got there in the first place to stop it in the future. What gives? Any ideas? I can post pics if it will help.

Rob, that doesn't sound good.

I don't know for certain but I've heard that Nitro uses balsa wood in their transom, (or used to) and if this wood gets wet, it quickly starts rotting away, leaving a big void where the wood used to be.

Maybe it's just the foam flotation material being water soaked. That's not a much better scenario though. Again, I've heard there is no way to dry this out. It also makes the boat very heavy and worst off, will not provide the proper flotation to the hull in case of a swamping or worse.

Hope I didn't kill your day. Maybe someone more knowelgible than I can help you out.

Can't really tell, it's just dripping out of the 2 new ducer holes. I did drill one in the bilge area on the side about 2 inches up from the floor of the hull and nothing came out, so my guess is only enough to ROT everything! LOL. She goes into the glass shop this weekend. Durn! Another 2 weeks with no boat! AHHHH!!!!!!!!
