My wife and son wanted to go out for awhile yesterday morning, so I loaded up the boat, got to Sturgeon Creek Marina, dropped the boat, won't start??? 5 year old cranking battery finally went out, was hoping to get one more year out of it, but oh well. Got a new one at the marina dropped it in and fired her up. Thought that was going to be the end of trouble for the day.....almost!! Now you have to understand my son has autism and is scared to go fast in the boat(this saved me some money). Wife and I are trying to help him with this issue so he can enjoy time on the water. So we assure him we won't be going fast, well fast to him is about 10mph!! I talk him into 25, which he is still scared up says ok, so I get the boat just on plane and we are running out of Sturgeon Creek and bam bam bam down the bottom of the boat????? Can't think of anything out there to hit, didn't see anything, shut her down and rise the motor up, and up pops a 2x6 about 5 feet long. Was a piece of someones dock that got loose, and I broke it in half. Good thing is it didn't do any damage at all to the boat, so I escaped that one!! Good thing I was going 25 instead of my normal 65!!

Caught 1 about 4lbs on a crankbait, was really trying to get one for my son rather then me. But he got to fight it in!:D

Gunny - sometimes its better to be lucky than good (with the boat issues!). Sounds like a fun day on Anna. My son (8) and I got out on Saturday (hot side). Boated a few, but all dinks. More fun to watch him hook fish. He managed to land a small catfish and he was grinning ear to ear! To me, that's what its all about.

Sounds like a good day after all, even with the near miss on the plank! I know what you mean on speed in the boat with the little guy. My youngest has Down Syndrome and also a great uneasiness with speed in the boat. I'm sure you'll agree that it's well worth the slow going to get 'em out on the water though! Good job and God Bless! :D
