Well, I done went and done it again.... the new Tundra commercails, the Toyota Tundra Fishing team... Got ourselves a new toy:

This thing is everything I've been wanting in a truck for a while now....

5.7L V8, 4x4, TRD Package

Yep, should tow most anything nicely. Nice looking truck. Congratulations!

Hope you bought stock in a gas company though! Our Region has Toyota as a sponsor, and they let us use one of their trucks to tow our Region trailer - looks exactly like your truck, except it has bigger rims. Color, engine, 4x4, etc.. are the same. Towing our region trailer from Virginia Beach, Virginia to Kerr Reservoir, the driver had to stop and put an extra $20 in it so that it would make it to North Bend park. Nice trucks, but man! I never thought I'd see a gas - guzzling Toyota. Makes my Ram look like an economy vehicle. Ha!

I hope you enjoy it!

All the best,

Glenn

If I get better than 10 towing, it will make me very happy... 10 was all I ever got out of my dakota....

Right now, intown driving, I'm averaging 15+, so I'm thinking it'll be in good shape!

Now do you have a Tundra to pull behind it? My wife gave me the go ahead to get a 18 foot Tundra Walk through w/150 opti max. That is if I can sell my Nitro 170 DC Ricky Clunn.

Anyway my brother just lost his Tundra Truck. Got divorced and reduced income forced him to sell it. He loved that truck and everything about it.

Good luck

Fatrap

Keep us up on how you like it after awhile.

Mileage should improve a little maybe.

Fatrap,

Nope, got the 911 to pull... I saw the other post about you wanting a tundra, I just assumed you meant the truck!

Tee.... The honeymoon with the 05 dakota was over very quickly, I truly hope that is not the case with this one....

Well one thing's for sure (and your hearin' this from a GM man)...should keep you happy for a long time;)

LOL at Ed. :D:D:D Every time I see that 'TRD' designation, that's exactly what I think of.

Hope you like it and it does well. Had a friend that had one for about 9 months. Took a beating when he traded it in and went back to GM trucks. Hope your experience is better.

Tex

Great Truck. I have one that pulls my 901 like nothing is there.

Tow out to Champlain from Massachusetts every year without a hitch.

Mine burns less fuel than my old GMC Jimmie.:D

Dang Sim you said you were gonna WAIT till 08!! I go to a conference for 3 days and this is what happens!!! ;)

Oh, and at LEAST you could have gone with the white and trim to match the 911!!! LOL

Trep

Trep... I waited and watched for you online to tell ya!!!

We went to the dealer on Friday nite, and, well, they gave me the deal I both wanted and needed... like I was saying, it was pretty much a no brainer.

We we're going to look at a white one, but it had the 4.7 in it, and I wanted the 5.7, that and Barb _really_ liked this silver one!

(there is a silver pin stripe down the 911 that it matches up to, so its all good!).

Will look for you online in the morning!

Tony

Grats Sim, nice truck.

When you say the "honeymoon" was over with your Dakota were you having major problems with it? When i dumped mine last year i kinda felt like i had to because of the overheating problem i had that seemingly could not be cured. theres something drasticly wrong when the truck was overheating on the coldest week in january

Jim...

Primarily it was a gas mileage issue... could only ever get barely 10 with the boat, and averaged 12 around town... I never liked the way it towed on the highway (gutless) and really wished it had the 3.92 rear end, it never quite shifted the way I thought it should (up or down). It also seemed "jittery" as of late.

Never had any of those issues with the silver one, even after 60k miles (only had 30 on the white one)....

I don't think there was anything actually wrong with it, service folks didnt seem to think so anyway....

So far, the Tundra is averaging about 15 in town, and I'll let you know how it does towing this weekend. (still havent run the first tank of gas out yet!).

Yea Sim i hear ya on the gas milage. My dakota drank it too, it never did any better then yours did. My Chevy gets so much better milage then thast dodge did.

Id be cursiouos to see what you get for milage once you put some miles on it. The guy that sits one cube away from me at work got a 5.7 tundra double cab 4x4 about a month ago says hes getting about 13 city on average. He says the milage computer is a little "happy" and does not match what he calculates out when he fills it. The one in my chevy always reads high too.

I just averaged 19 MPG pullin' my tin rig thru the hills last week with the Sierra:)

Tee, my Silvy will do about 15.5 pulling my 882 thru the NH mountians. Not too bad for a full sized 4x4 with over 300hp.

My old Dakota would do about 10 on the same trip and feel like it was wheezing on the larger hills. The Chevy doesnt even break a sweat.
