Garmin's paddle wheel speedo on the 240.

MinnKota's universal sonar on the Maxxum.

Do they work and do they hold up?

Thanks!

me!

Scott, just remember with the built in ducer. If you have a problem with the TM, you're out a finder too! I would keep it serperate. Just my .02. We ran into that dilema with Buzz's Genesis.

Scott:

When I ordered the Garmin 240 from Cabela's, it was the trolling motor transducer package, not the transom mounted transducer package.

For whatever reason, Cabela's threw in the paddle wheel speedo for free. I'm not planning on installing it because the display unit will be too far away for me to read when I'm up on plane, and I'm not concerned with how slow I'm trolling.

If you are thinking about buying one, let me know. I may give you a better deal!! :^)

Why, MO? Are you thinking of getting rid of the Garmin? Or just the paddle wheel? If I buy the 240, the paddle wheel comes with it. And yes, there are a number of things I will be doing with the boat sometime in the future - I just haven't decided which and when!

Rob, if the TM fails, then I don't need a finder up front! And the Garmin comes with a transducer, so I'd just have to keep it around "just in case" I had to quickly replace the TM.

My biggest question is whether the built-in transducer works as well as the one supplied with the TM from the factory.....

They're supposed to be better since they don't have interference. But to be honest, I've run all 3 kinds of finders on both kinds of TM's and never had any interference ever.

I'm keeping the Garmin unit and the TM Transducer, but I don't have a need for the speed wheel.
