I have a 2001 700lx and I just noticed that When I get to

the launch ramp, I have fuel all over the side of my boat.

It just started this year. Any thoughts?

I thought that the tank would have an anti siphon valve or back flow valve. I haven't had time to check it out, any input would be welcome.

Thanks to all.

Good question! On my boat I have to listen carefully to the gas flow as I fill the tank, or else the fuel overflows and gushes out into the splashwell. The auto shut-off on the pumps doesn't work on my boat like it does when I fill up our car or truck tanks.

Any suggestions or solutions?

I use to have the same problem with the pro team 175 that

I use to own. But this is happening while towing. I make sure that I don't over fill the tank as well.

I wonder what effect the gas will have on the gelcoat.

Since I don't know the design of your system, I can't comment any further. I was just curious about the lack of a back flow or check valve.

My boat is painted aluminum, and I haven't noticed any problems. Gel coat is a different animal.

I just bought a 1995, 170TF and the previous owner said to NEVER fill past 3/4 of a tank as it leaks/gets all over everything. Did not pursue the problem at the time. Maybe it is a Nitro/tracker problem?

once on a really hot day with a topped off tank it expanded and i had quite a mess until i ran a mile or 2, from then on the first time it shuts off when filling i stop. if its hot out. stan

I have a 95 170TF and never have problems with gas coming out. My gas tank lid is the kind that screws on tight with a rubber o-ring seal to seal it tight. If it is the vent that the gas is coming out of, I would check to see if they make a valve which allows air to pass through, but closes when liquid tries to go through. But check with a dealer before making any changes. Gas and venting are very important. I do not want to cause anyone to get hurt.
