For those of you who have been waiting for me to do this project, I've nearly finished installing the rear deck lid locks (four of them), and am about 3/4 of the way complete with installing the front bin and rod locker lid pulls.

The TV-18 came with locks on the front deck lids, but not on the rear deck lids, and lid pulls on the rear but not on the front. This project is an attempt to balance things out a bit. Please let me know what you think of my progress so far (location, layout, etc.)

MO

Here are the front deck lid pulls. The holes have been cut, and the pulls are waiting to be bolted or pop-riveted in place. They are just sitting in the holes here.

This is a photo of the starboard side, rear deck lids. The aft lid opens to the cranking battery and the remote oil tank. The bow lid opens up to a dry storage bin, which holds a set of tackle trays. On the port side, the aft lid opens to the charger and the trolling motor battery, while the bow lid opens up to another dry storage box, where I typically store my "Darth Vader" helmet.

None of these lids was lockable from the factory. I wanted to reduce the risk that someone would steal a battery, my tackle or anything else I wanted to store overnight in the dry boxes. The locks here are keyed the same as the factory-installed locks that are on the bow deck lids.

Mo,

Looks Great. Now I know what to ask for on fathers day.

Thanks, Marke! On another post I said the lid pulls were made by Perko. I was wrong. They are made by Attwood.

Craid can set you up with as many as you need, but be warned: cutting the holes for these things is tough unless you have the right tool. I've got photos of the procedure and the tools we used.

MO-

Looks like factory installed equipment!

Do you have a waiting list yet???

OOps, meant to say, "CraiG can set you up with as many as you need..."

Mac or Ken, if you see see this please tell Craig to come take a look so he can see that his efforts to ship these parts to me haven't been wasted. Thanks!

Sure, Andy!

Just give me a few weeks notice, have the parts you need with you, and bring the boat down to St. Louis! I'll get the tool I used to cut the holes and we can do it together. It took about two hours to get to this point in the process.

The next step will be to mount the lid pulls with small bolts, washers and nuts. On the rear deck lid locks, I have to mark the location in the compartment frames for grooves into which the locking plates pivot and cut the slots with a grinder. I also need to cut corresponding grooves in each of the two dry boxes. Then she'll be done!

(Oh, yeah, and I'm still waiting for the machine shop at my father-in-law's company to make a customized Corona-opener to take the place of one of the locking plates on the rear deck locks!)
