Well, my trip to Fontana lake turned out to be pretty good. I took my 10 yr old nephew with me who is just now getting the fever to bass fish with me. Now i won't be able to keep him out of the boat! Sunday morning his first bass was a 4.5lb largemouth on a Pop R about 10 feet from the boat. Talk about a fight on a 5 ft spincast outfit. He was wore out by the time he got the fish in the boat. His second fish was a 2.5lb smallmouth on the Pop R. It tried to jump in the boat with him several times. Needless to say he is hooked now. Overall we caught several largemouth 3-4.5lbs and a bunch of smallmouth and even got a few white bass while schooling and every fish was caught on topwater. Going to try to go back next year in late April when the smallies are spawning. But a great weekend of fishing in a beautiful lake.
