Many of you reported getting a Nitro survey via email. The evidence suggested that some of the email addresses for the survey were gained from this site. That turned out to be true.

I received an apology from Tracker on this issue, along with a pledge to not let it occur again. In the future, they will coordinate their efforts with the site if the members and visitors are desired as the subject of any research.

I wished they'd send me one for Tracker...I definitely wouldn't have a problem with fillin' it out...regardless of how they got my name.

If I had known it was from tracker... I would have filled it out... I love my boat!

Glad you love yours Kraig...I'd fill it out honestly.

If this is the only spam I get then I will be happy. I still don't like the idea that anyone can skim e-mail addys though. If it is not too difficult, Rich maybe should consider making them off limits to non-members (not that some spammer couldn't register just to get them). This time it was Tracker (or a contractor for Tracker), next time it might be a true spammer who compiles a list of boatowners and then sells it to 1,000 firms for junk mail. I'm not concerned but it is something to think about.

Very interesting.....

Marketing ignored my request for caps for the rally..........

Dear Tracker Marine,

The Members of this site have repeatedly gone to bat for you, both in their participation here and by their responses to owners and detractors on other web sites.

I would very much like to see you show your appreciation for the Members and, in particular, Rich Stern. A simple way would be to become a Sponsor of the site as Guest Chargers has already.

Thank you,

me!

Good idea!! Kinda' gettin' somethin in return....You scratch mine..I'll scratch yours.

It would be nice to get some good sponsors.

TEE

me!,

You know that idea has some validity. As this is a site dedicated to their cause, and one that is more nice then bash, I think if they are reading this that it will not hurt. Now, I can guess that for them there are legal issues. If they do become sponsors, i just hope that Rich can keep the "openness" of the site. As we all know there are a few disgruntled Nitro/Tracker owners, and all have the right to be heard. Ewwwww, sorry for the long post. I need to get out of Alabama and get home!!!

Very good point. Major corporations pay huge ammounts of advertising dollars to have 1 square foot on the fender of a NASCAR car wizzing by at near 200mph just to have the image in the public's mind for a fraction of a second. I'm sure that the good ol' NTOWS would be a much better buy, considering the already interested target market that congregates here repeating the brand name Nitro and Tracker as well as Mercury. This type of meeting place creates a brand loyality much like NASCAR creates brand loyality for Ford and Chevy. I'm sure the advertising gurus have a terminology for this,I don't know what it is.

I, as I'm sure most of the other members here would have no problem sharing my e-mail address with sponsors. Why not? I already receive e-mail advertisments from BPS, Amazon.com, Yamamoto, and Eddie Bauer just to name a few.

Okay Rich, put on your salesmans hat and close the deal....we need a spell checker.

Hold the phone!

I think it would be bad for both Tracker Marine and this web site to be in a sponsor relationship.

So, thoughts and good intentions appreciated, but let's end the write-in campaign now.

I heartily agree with Rich... I see some not so subtle censorship on another site that I am constantly reading also... Many times that censorship involves a sponsor...

I see your point Rich and Greg. Dang! I was really wanting that spell checker. ;>))

Harpo

Good point, Rich. I'll delete the address in my post.

However..... If people here were to mention it to other potential Sponsors........... :^)

(rats. i just tried to make the changes. it's been more than 24 hours. i can't edit my post anymore.)
