Rob and I hooked up today for some bass fishing on Champlain. Rob started off the day catching the big fish of the day - 3.5lb largemouth. I don't think it should count since he always brags about the smallmouth!!! Anyways, there is a good chop so we target smallies. Rob caught a SMALL one and that was the only smallie caught all day. We then fished for some LM arounds docks and old railroad pilings. We also found a couple of spots where there was a bunch of tires connected together!! We got to the pilings after everybody and their bass fishing brother already fished them. We ended up with 4 bass each. Rob also caught a rockie and a pike and was declared "the winner". All LM were caught on jig n fake pig.

Here is a pic of Rob's big LM trying to make it look like a 5lber!!

Here is another pic of the same fish and how it looked in "real life".

All joking aside, I had a great day fishing with Rob. I caught 4 LM on a jig n fake pig and am still learning. My fish were not picture worthy! Rob helps with tips and tricks just for the asking. He knows I'm not a threat on the tourney trail!! He also tried to get me to fly out of the boat by driving 50mph on 3 footers!! No console/no handle - I was hanging on by my finger nails! Just another day on Champlain! Oh yea, thanks for turning around to get my Nitro hat - it blew out of my hand!! Rob will probably post on Monday with more BS details!! We get to do it again next week at the mini-rally!

Had a fun time with Bob, not many people can take razzin as well as they can dish it out. I won't mention any names....Neeley! Kidding! We actually stayed clear of a few prime smallie spots that I knew would be hopping, so that Buzz could have them all to himself. THEN I find out that he didn't even COME OVER to NY because his draw partner didn't have the license! Geeeez! The NY federation was this weekend and there were guys beating up all my water. I was dissappointed that we didn't catch more, especially in one of my little secret rock piles. Just one dink. Go figure. Just adds to an already weird year. Bob is a quick study though. He sat in the back all day just taking it all in, and then comes from nowhere, pushes me off the TM, takes over and boats 4 bass in minutes. Give him an inch and he thinks he's the RULER! LOL Good job Bob, next season, you'll be a seasoned Champlain vet! In typical fashion I busted ANOTHER battery tray and mount and DESTROYED an in line fuse holder for my charger. Cheap fixes though. Hope everyone had a good weekend. Hope Mac has his bear already.
